You are packed and ready to go for your trip. All that's left to do is head to the bathroom to gather your toiletries. But what do you bring? What will you need? Traveling should not interfere with your skincare routine. Here are four tips to make packing your skincare for your next trip a breeze. STick with the BasicsAlways start with your skincare basics:
These are the staples I always have in my carry-on, even if I check a bag. Save your skincare samples and keep them in your travel bag or use these small containers. Also, when traveling, it's best to avoid using anything new or harsh ingredients that can leave your skin feeling irritated. The last thing you want is a reaction while you are on vacation.
Be strategiCA little forward thinking can allow you to be strategic with your corrective products and to save space. You can do this by focusing on packing for your primary concern. If you are blemish prone, a gentle exfoliating product to keep pores clean and clear and a spot treatment are good options. If you have sensitive skin, pack a skin soothing mask. If you have dry skin, pack a hydrating mask, multivitamin serum and a heavier night cream.
Consider the climateThe climate of your destination matters to your skin more than you might ever imagine. You likely have checked that ten-day forecast to determine what clothing you will be adding to your suitcase. But did you know that it also should determine which skin care products you bring? So, always consider the climate of where you are going. If it is dry/cold, pack a heavier barrier-boosting cream and creamy cleanser. If it is hot/humid, pack a lighter moisturizer and gel-based or gentle exfoliating cleanser.
be proactiveIf you are flying, an extra dose (or two!) of moisture is a must - so hydrate and nourish before and after you fly. The night before I fly, I prep my skin by sleeping in a hydrating mask and do the same the day I arrive at my destination. During my flight, I use a hydrating toner and more emollient moisturizer to keep my skin from becoming dehydrated. During a daytime flight, I always wear SPF. You know how the sun gets in car windows and can damage your skin? Well imagine how strong it is so much closer to the sun! You might not feel it, but the suns rays are still dangerous when you are in the air. By following these key tips, packing your skincare essentials should be easy, save you space and save you time.
